When considering the pursuit of venture capital or other forms of financing, entrepreneurs have many questions. We attempt to answer some of those questions here…

What is the best way to introduce my company?
Claritas receives hundreds of business plan submissions every year. We make an effort to respond to each inquiry. If your business falls within our strategy we will spend at least 20 minutes hearing your pitch by phone or in person.

What if my company does not fall within your investment parameters?
We set investment parameters because we feel that it is within those areas we can have the greatest and most positive impact on our entrepreneurs. Investments outside of our parameters are typically introduced to the firm by 1) proven, repeat entrepreneur we’ve worked with in past, 2) a limited partner with experience in the field and an investment in the venture, or 3) a trusted relationship with the venture firm leading the financing.

How much will you invest in my company?
Our investment range is $250,000 to $2,500,000, depending on the stage of your company.

Specialty Debt financings can range from $1,000,000 to $10,000,000.

Do you require a position on the Board of Directors?
If we are investing in a seed, start-up, or early stage company, we will seek a position on your Board of Directors. Our experience, skills, and relationships will both enhance and accelerate the growth of your venture.

If we are providing mezzanine financing, we require a seat on the Board of Directors or observation rights.

What companies will you not consider?
For venture, we do not have a current interest in pursuing large bio-tech or life sciences investments.

For mezzanine, we do not make investments in real estate, financial services, or high technology companies.

Will you sign a NDA?
Our policy is to not sign NDAs, however, we are more than happy to receive your business plan submission by email, regular or express mail.
